Financial Inclusion

Financial inclusion matters to individuals, their families and their small enterprises. For banks and other financial service providers, the untapped market for financial services is an enormous and increasingly viable opportunity, one that will undoubtedly grow in the coming decade. WSBI supports financial institutions through training and hands-on technical assistance in designing sustainable business models tailored to individual country circumstances as well as institutional strategy. Two ground-breaking courses pave the way:

Sustainable Financial Inclusion - 5 days
At a glance The course builds on tools and techniques developed under WSBI’s “Doubling Savings Accounts Programme” for building customer numbers, balance sheets and bottom-line profit as a consequence of delivering greater financial inclusion. By the end of the course, participants will be able to scope and scale their unbanked market potential, understand what usability really means, and develop business models to deliver affordability in a sustainable way.

Our target Senior managers responsible for strategic planning, marketing, and payment services.
Mobile banking as good as mobile money - 3 days
At a glance The course benchmarks banks’ mobile and e-payment offer against international best practices in e-payment strategies. By the end of the course, participants will have examined how their bank’s offer could be adjusted to face the challenges of the financial services landscape drawing on experiences in different parts of the world.

Our target Senior managers responsible for strategic planning, marketing, and payment services.

The management of new distribution channels: mobile and/or branchless (agent) banking” -  2 to 3 days
At a glance As demand for proximity and convenience banking transactions has increased dramatically in recent years, banks and MFIs are making significant investments in their distribution channels, particularly in online and mobile phone banking linked to the set-up of agent networks. However, there are some critical success factors that point the way to mobile banking success. This course highlights these critical success factors together through analysis of the ecosystem, agents’ selection criteria, customer needs, incentives for agents, liquidity management and data analytics. It also covers the risks that are generated by working with agents and through mobile banking.

Our target for both Bank and MFI senior and potential managers.
